Income Report for April 2021
Why am I publishing income reports on a social anxiety blog?
In case you’d like to start a blog too! Or in case you already have one and are curious what I’m doing behind the scenes.
I love to read them myself, so that’s another reason.

I got some advice from a Tik Tok coach to try and replicate a video from someone with the success that I want. So, I studied some videos from Dr. Julie Smith who is a psychologist on the app with millions of followers.
Some things that I changed were that I added my degree to my profile page, added that I am a published author, spoke louder and with more authority (really!), gave myself a title (The Social Anxiety Guide), focused on a problem and a tip as a solution, and ask people to follow me for more tips.
The first two videos that I made since making these changes went viral with hundreds of thousands of views.
Now, my challenge is to figure out how to move that traffic from Tik Tok over to my website. I made sure to update my link with important places I would want people to go.

We went back into lockdown and schools shut down, so I have been very pressed for time. I did not publish as many posts as I would normally do.

So, this is ultra disappointing after having such a good month last month. The irony though is that this is pretty much a baseline for me now. Even if everything goes wrong, I can expect $600 month from my website.
There is a time not that long ago that I would have been thrilled with that result.
Also, my RPM or revenue per thousand pageviews is really not that bad when I compare it to some bigger blogs that published their early income reports.
And ironically, when I first started writing for About.com, I was paid $1 per 1000 pageviews! So, I’ve created a business that is much more lucrative than that. The problem is it’s just much harder to get traffic on my own.
Monthly expenses:
Email (Convertkit): $79
: $13.60 (use and discount code KSDISC to save 20%)
Teachable: $39
Canva: $12.82
Tailwind: $14.99
Siteground Renewal: $299.88
WordPress Support from iMark Interactive: $27
Facebook Ads: $0
Total expenses: $486.29 ($186.41)
Net blog income: $130.91 ($1468.57)
Thoughts about this month’s income report:
No wonder I have been putting off doing this income report! It’s a little dismal. But it just goes to show how I can see why people quit even four years into this thing.
I’m not quitting though. It’s just exhausting because I can’t afford to pay anyone to help me because the income is not yet reliable.
Did I Meet my Goals for April?
Our area went back into lockdown and our schools shut down which has greatly affected my ability to work.
I tried to restart my Facebook Ads but I could not concentrate and gave up. I also was not able to create a new product.
I think I am putting both of these things on hold until I have time alone, which may not be until September.
Goals for May:
- Add an affiliate program in Teachable
- Keep up with regular writing and posting tasks
- Figure out how to convert traffic from Tik Tok
Back Burner Goals:
I’m going to start putting some goals here that I want to work on in the future:
- Affiliate launch for Audible audiobook subscription
- Work on finishing Stupid Simple SEO
- Add to my Etsy Shop
- Take Making Sense of Affiliate Marketing Course
- Run Facebook Ads
- Create more Products
